Description
In late October, it's cold when you go for a mile and a half walk in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park early in the morning. This specific trailhead is along the Motor Nature Trail. The trail itself winds back and forth along the contours of the mountains. There are several smaller waterfalls along the hike. Just as you're beginning to wonder if there really is a "Grotto Falls" waterfall, you turn one more bend around to the right and come across this scene. It's not the most impressive waterfall in the park, but certainly one of the most beautiful to photograph. This was my first hike to this specific waterfall.

Thanks Karen. I have this one enlarged above my fireplace. You're right...it is a nice visual break from the heat.

Wonderful Pete, I like soft waterfalls...something quite magical about them. Welcome to FAA and thanks for the comments in the Natural Wonders group discussion board. Keep sharing, I'd love to see more work. -Tiffany
