Description
Two days prior, my wife and I took a mile and a half hike to Spruce Flats Falls. The hike was miserable beginning with a steep climb by the Smoky Mountain Institute in the Tremont area. It was the first time I went on a real hike to get to a waterfall. Prior to this, I had stuck to roadside waterfalls and cascades. When we finally reached this point, I was amazed, but the sun was bright and casting some harsh light on the subject making photography difficult. We had to return to this 75 foot waterfall. I had bought a new filter after the first hike (split nd) and had to shoot it again. If you're ever in the Smokies, you have to see this waterfall. In the heat of summer, be sure to prepare to wade in the small pool at the bottom of the falls or sit on the rocks on the left side. When I downloaded the image after returning home, that normally difficult task of naming a photograph was simple as I stared at the different tiers of the falls.
