Description

6,000 feet. It's quiet up here. Looking straight out, you can see the end of the sky, below is the rolling mist of the smoky mountains. A slight breeze creeps by, the distant sound of a bird is faintly heard. The trees disappear and then become visible again through the ghastly smoke. This is Morton's Overlook, just below Newfound Gap, and the Appalachian trail. This is the Great Smoky Mountains.
